In order to gain a more personal perspective on life at Exigy, this month we’ve sat down with yet another one of our employees, Viktoriia. In her interview, she speaks about her role as Solutions Consultant at the company, as well as her own likes, dislikes and what she gets up to when not at the office!
Tell us something about yourself and your work.
I’m from Ukraine and my story with Exigy started last summer when I moved to Malta. It was a challenge for me as I had never been to Malta before, so the totally different culture and environment took some getting used to.
As for my position at Exigy, I work as an MS Dynamics Navision Solution Consultant. I communicate with clients, understand their requirements and implement these requirements into the system solutions.
What initially appealed to you about working at Exigy?
I had already held the same position with similar responsibilities in Ukraine, so even before my interview with Exigy, I understood quite well what would be expected from me. The most important question I was asked was what I would bring to the company. However, once I started, I immediately felt at home, as though I had already known these people for a long time.
What does a typical day at the office look like? What parts of your position are the most challenging and rewarding?
In my role, no two days are ever the same. As a Solution Consultant, I can work from Exigy’s offices or from the clients’ offices as well. Sometimes I start working in the client’s office with training or a workshop meeting; otherwise, I carry out project documentation in my own office.
I often work with people. Some of them are easy-going, some aren’t! The biggest reward for my efforts is receiving an email from the client expressing satisfaction and gratitude. I love working with people and helping our clients with various issues and questions. And I’m happy when our clients are happy!
Aliens invade the office on an otherwise normal Monday afternoon. What's the first thing you do?
I would try to run away before they kidnapped me! Hopefully, it would all be just a dream, one which I could tell my colleagues about the following day. .
What is the environment at Exigy like? How is it different from other places you have worked?
We work on projects with clients from various kinds of industries, with different business processes and different requirements. My job and my responsibilities require mobility and flexibility, teamworking, an individual approach to each client, skills of effective communication and representing the face of a company in a positive way.
We accomplish all of this together - teamwork is our most important value. As a group, we’re very friendly and easy to get along with. Every month, we have team building events which allow us to have fun together, let off some steam and better understand each other's strengths, weaknesses, and interests. The most important thing to me is that I know that when I need help, my colleagues will always be there for me to share their experience and knowledge.
If you could work in any environment, what would it be?
This question reminds me of something that happened to me several years ago, when I used to work as an internal auditor. I had a night business trip but our team was required to finish an urgent group report. The only way to do it was to work from the sleeping wagon in the train!
Having said that, my ideal working environment is my own sofa. At Exigy, we have the welcome opportunity to work remotely from sofa. You can wake up and start work while still wearing your pyjamas!
How do Exigy's values tie in with your own?
I share and completely agree with Exigy’s values: Passion, Reliability, Excellence and Integrity. I always do my best to make the customers happy and satisfy all their requirements!
How has working at Exigy helped you develop professionally?
Here at Exigy we work in one of the most dramatically changing sectors; there are a lot of new developments with various products, with which we always need to keep ourselves updated.
Moreover, to offer a solution to our client, we need to be able to understand the business environment in which the client operates. Thus, a good knowledge of business management combined with that of modern information technology is crucial.
At the moment, I’m studying for my ACCA certification. I’ve already achieved my Advanced Diploma in Accounting and Business, and am very grateful that my management supports all my efforts to develop academically and professionally.
Describe your ideal co-worker.
My ideal co-worker is the person who never puts off until tomorrow what could be done that day.
How do you find working in Malta? What do you think of the Maltese as a people?
I’ve always wanted to live in a warm place near the sea. The climate is one of the best things about Malta. It’s a small country, but I never get bored here - there are so many things to do and see! Maltese people are wonderfully friendly and very willing to lend a helping hand. Almost everyone here speaks English, so there’s no language barrier.
What do you enjoy doing in your time off?
I love the sun, the sea, swimming, diving and hiking, all of which are so easy to do and experience each weekend, especially in summer. I also enjoy snowboarding, but that’s not so easy to do here! Each winter, I travel and visit mountains with my friends – it’s how I recharge my batteries before each year begins.
If you could choose to live a second life as an animal, what would you be and why?
I would like to be a cat who lived somewhere in the countryside throughout all my nine lives. I love cats - they don't like closed doors, and have the one rule which especially rings true: “There are no closed doors, only a meow that was not loud enough!”
