From being stranded on a desert island to having superpowers at work, Krista lets us in on hypothetical and actual life at Exigy.
Tell us something about yourself.
I have been working at Exigy for the past year and five months. I started as a Technical Support officer as part of the Enterprise team right after I graduated, and now I’m moving into Software Development. In my free time, I like to travel, visit different restaurants and try different cuisines.
Is it better to be perfect and late, or good and on time? Would you consider yourself a perfectionist when it comes to your work?
I’d rather be good and on time. I’m the type of person that always makes a point to meet deadlines and be punctual. As for my work, I give 110% to everything I do and I’m open to improving my skill set whenever necessary.
What is something you'd be happy doing every single day for the rest of your career?
I love working on projects that make a difference, just for the satisfaction of saying that I’m helping the world technologically evolve.
Do you often work on your own as an individual or as part of a team?
As I’ve mentioned before, I am part of the Enterprise team. As individuals within the team, we are all working on different projects but often turn to each other for advice and support. As the Enterprise team, we also collaborate with different teams within Exigy depending on the projects that we are working on.
If you were stranded on a desert island, which two colleagues you trust to help you survive?
I would take Melanie and James, who are part of the Navision team. Since starting at Exigy we’ve become good friends, and I know I can trust them to help me survive.
What was the biggest risk you have taken at work so far, and what did you learn from it?
The biggest risk that I have taken so far is probably doing something that is totally outside my comfort zone, which is giving demos and training to our clients, as I am quite a shy person.
With the help of my teammates and learning to believe in myself, I’ve learned that when you put your mind into something you can do anything and overcome any obstacle to get to the next level of your career.
What do you like best about working at Exigy?
Since this is my first job in the IT industry, what I like about Exigy is that every day I’m faced with solving new problems and learning new technologies. This helps me challenge myself in a different way.
Which film character would make the best colleague at Exigy?
The best film character for me would be Tony Stark from Iron Man; he would have all of these cool technologies and inventions that would be amazing to work with!
Is there anything in particular that you and your colleagues – or the company in general – do to make new employees feel welcome?
We have an awesome Social Committee team within the company! They organise an event every 2-3 months, which is great for new employees to get to know others outside of the office. In general, everyone at Exigy is very friendly and we always make sure new employees feel included.
If you could work from your office in any city or country, which one would you choose?
I’d love to work from a hut on an island in the middle of the Maldives - just a step away from white sandy beaches and crystal blue waters away from everything.
If you could, name one thing you would make compulsory in the office, and one thing you would ban.
One thing that I would make compulsory at the office is that on Monday mornings, work would start at 10 o’clock! I’d definitely ban smelly food from anywhere near the office and canteen.
Which superpower would be perfect for a normal day in the office?
One superpower that I would love to have would be the ability to freeze time. It would come in handy during busy days when you’d need some time to relax.
